Capri Sun: A Travel Guide to Italy's Enchanted Isle

As our ferry approached Capri, the sky melded into shades of sombre grey, a stark contrast to the island's usual vibrant tableau. A touch seasick—or perhaps still feeling the effects of last night’s indulgences—I was eager to set foot on land. The taxi ride from the port was a swift gateway through the animated swirl of Piazza Umberto before dropping me off at my destination. Here, perched above the piazza in a quaint Airbnb, I found myself uniquely positioned at the heart of Capri’s gentle chaos.

This is a little guide to Capri through my eyes, with tidbits of advice from those I love the most. From lemon orchards to gardens adorned with bluebells and jasmine, set against a backdrop of cerulean seas and sun-kissed cliffs, join me in uncovering the essence of this Mediterranean gem.

When to Go:

My friends and I wanted to avoid the larger crowds and enjoy the best of the weather so we headed down in mid-May. I suggest booking your trip for the quieter months of May, June, September, or October. While the island is lively in July and August, the shoulder seasons offer a more intimate experience of Capri's charm.
